If you are new to Physiotherapy and it’s benefits, we have put together some of the most frequently asked questions to help you.
How long are appointments?
A thorough assessment of your problem will normally involve an initial consult of 30-45 minutes with follow up visits 20-30 minutes.
If your consult involves a women’s health issue the assessment/treatment will be 60 minutes. Please advise reception if the consult is a women’s health issue so the appropriate appointment time can be made.
Do I need a referral?
A doctors referral is not required unless the consult falls under workers compensation, Department of Veteran Affairs or Enhanced Primary Care (Medicare).
What are the current fees and are they rebatable?
Fees are dependant on the length and nature of the consult. For information on fees, medicare and insurance rebates please contact our staff.
Does Medicare cover Bodycare Physiotherapy services?
Traditionally Medicare has not covered allied health services however the recent introduction of Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) now allows doctors to approve up to five allied health services per year on referral.
Does private health insurance cover my treatment?
This will depend on the policy you have chosen. Most policies with ancillary or extra’s cover will provide a rebate for physiotherapy services. Please check your policy or call the insurer you have chosen for more information.
